Launch 2023-24

On 28th March 2025, the 94th edition of méLAWnge was unveiled, marking another milestone in the college’s distinguished legacy dating back to 1855. The ceremony began with a formal felicitation of Hon’ble (Retd.) Justice Gautam Shirish Patel, the chief guest, alongside Khushnoom Daviervala, partner at Mulla & Mulla & Craigie Blunt & Caroe, and Prof. P. B. Daphal, Executive Editor of méLAWnge. Justice Patel’s address offered a compelling meditation on precision in both editing and advocacy, drawing a powerful analogy between the work of a copy editor in refining a magazine and a lawyer’s responsibility to present succinct, persuasive legal arguments. He went on to describe méLAWnge as “an institution of timelessness,” underlining how the magazine transcends its contributors and endures as a testament to clarity, continuity and collective excellence. Adding to the occasion’s gravitas, archival displays showcased editions from the 1930s and 1950s, offering readers a tangible journey through the evolving aesthetics and perspectives at the college. Students narrated excerpts from their article on a wide range of topics, like the pros and cons of a 70-hour work-week by Narayan Murthy. A momentous vote of thanks by chief student editor Sarthak Das brought the closing ceremony to an end. The organising committee concluded with an optimistic note: a promise to return next year with an even more enriched edition of méLAWnge.
